Story

G'Ling G'Ling
Do you want something?

G'Ling G'Ling
Do you want something?
Do you want something?

(ça commence à être dûr à pédaler)

Lyrics

You call me a loser, Claim I've got no empathy

Too much of a boozer, How did you end up with me?

Well I don't know if what you say is true But I've got just one thing to say to you

(chorus)

I am rubber, you are glue

Everything you say, bounces of me And sticks to you

Already you're harpin', The minute that I get back home

You can't wait to start in, Complainin' to your mother on the telephone

Well I don't care what they may think of me Or how you put me down relentlessly

(chorus)

(bridge)

You think you can hurt me with your words And so you try

But I just sit here thinkin' Well that's you but what am I?

I’ve got no motivation If people could hear you talk

I'm leadin the nation In goofin' off around the clock

And though it does get to me now and then

You're just talkin' 'bout yourself again

Story

Lyrics

(chorus)

Love Ain't Fair Love Ain't Fair to me (repeat)

You know you hurt me tremendously Hurt me relentlessly

When I first set my eyes on you it Felt like I was coming alive And when I got to know you

Well it almost seemed as though You wanted me to keep you satisfied

But when I called you up, you said "Can't you call again some other time"

I tried to get through to you But with everything I'd do it seemed like I was only wastin' my dimes

(chorus)

Well down at the ball game You were cheerin' till your eyes met mine I was trying to get to see you

But it always seemed to be You got away and left me Standin' on the foul line

Story

Lyrics

Sometimes when I go wandering I like to check out the goods

In a funky kinda’ quaint little Second Hand Store in my neighbourhood

In between a percolator that won’t perk

And a whole pile of TV’s where half don’t work

I’m sure to pick up something that I like.

Well that day the wind was a-howlin’ out I had to slip inside

And ain’t no tellin’ what kind of thing was there for me to find

An encyclopedia from 1949

Or some black-light paintings that would blow your mind

But I had no idea what this place had in store (oh no…)

(chorus)

I fell in love at first sight in the second-hand store

A new love was mine when she walked through the door

This old heart about fell on the floor

When I fell in love at first sight in the second-hand store

Now we’re together and I want you to know, people she’s something delectable

No more wasting our precious time looking for something collectible

‘Cause in the midst of all that antiquity,

She must’ve been lookin’ for the same thing as me

I fell in love for the best time in my life

Story

Lyrics

(chorus)

I rattle when I walk Just like my daddy did (repeat)

I used to think it was oh so strange But now time has found a way to rearrange it

So I rattle when I walk Just like my daddy did

The keys are for a pollutin' old Ford That I really wish I didn't need

I've got one for the trunk and another for the door To get me up to speed

The change I need to call my baby To know that the little boy's fine

Got a broken strap watch deep down in my pocket To help me keep track of time

(chorus)

Now my old man was a fine old man But I didn't want to be the same

I think I've done well to make my own trail And we still share the name

But apart from the name and the gotpel songs That we both still love to sing

There ain't a whole lot that we hold in common Except this one little thing

Story

Lyrics

(chorus)

Barn Spoiled, can’t help what I do, yes I’m Barn Spoiled

Like a barn spoiled nag I’m gallopin’ home to you

Some folks hit the happy hour when the workin’ day is done

Have a few laughs and knock back a beer and a shot

But I can’t join ‘em when they tell me it’s time to have some fun

‘Cause you turn me toward home and I break into a trot

(chorus)

Some folks try to tell me yeah she’s got you on a string

But they don’t know what’s waitin’ at home you see

Every time I hear that buzzer ring and I’m passing by the clock

Home corral’s already callin’ me

(chorus)

(bridge)

Well maybe it’s got something to do with the lady I’ve got waitin’

Waitin’ with a love that’s true and I ain’t hesitatin’

Or maybe it’s the clothes she wore Last time she met me at the door

But I ain’t waitin’ anymore

Lyrics

(chorus)

Precious little time to spend with precious you

Moments all too fleeting, all too few

We've got our lives to lead and things to do

And not much precious time to spend with precious you

When we're together are the moments I remember

The spots of sunlight through the shadows 'neath the trees

It's imprinted in my mind, and when we're far away

I go back to that time and I'm with you that day

(chorus)

Well it's a pretty little café in the city

Your gospel hair, your blue jean eyes, your tender kiss

When I'm alone I can be happy, but it's not the same

As the happiness I feel when I'm with you again

(final chorus)

Precious little time to spend with precious you

Moments all to fleeting, all too few

One day things will change, I'll marry you

And I'll spend all my livin' days just lovin' you

Lyrics

(chorus)

You're only a daydream away

And so close to my heart anyway

I can't be with you as much as I'd wish to

But you're on my mind to stay

And you're only a daydream away

You're in my eyes every time that I try

To get done my job and I don't wonder why

I just overheard the boss say Just look at him daydream away

(chorus)

The times we're together I treasure them so I capture a moment and I won't let it go

I keep it till some lonely day And then I just daydream away

Daydream away

Daydream away

You're on my mind to stay

And you're only a daydream away

Story

L'album avait pour titre "How I Came to Fall".

Lyrics

Takin’ good love for granted, that’s how I came to fall

Once I had a woman, she loved me like a wife,

Started us a family, we were set for love for life.

But a fling one night, in a local bar, with a dancer from Montreal

She found out about it, that’s how I came to fall

Used to have a good job, I was really really on the rise

A kid with big ambitions, you could see it in my eyes

But with worryin’ about my family, I wasn’t always on the ball

My star began descending, that’s how I came to fall

(chorus)

Well I was fine till I let my mind wander to rest no more,

Now my heart is cold and it feels like my soul’s out beggin’ from door-to-door

Sittin’ here, behind this beer, thinkin’ about it all

Takin’ good love for granted, that’s how I came to fall

Well I was on the wagon, but the wagon didn’t roll for me

Still I knew the barroom, was not the place to be

Weeks went by, and I was dry, till one day my little girl called

I let it all get to me, that’s how I came to fall

(chorus)

Sittin’ here, behind this beer, talkin' to my alcohol Takin’ good love for granted, that’s how I came to fall

Lyrics

I was sitting at a little red felt-covered table, I was reflecting on my fate,

I’d drank about as much as I was able to I was in a lonely state

Then she blew in on her angel wings, Pretty as an angel could be

She said « I gotta’ get off my feet Would you mind a little company ? »

I pulled back a chair and signaled the waitress To bring us round a couple of beer,

Then I started with the small talk « So what brings you in here ? »

She just smiled, it was a work of art Right there she had me, she’d stole my heart

The place was filling up with the late night crowd I said « Let’s go somewhere quiet, it’s gettin' too loud »

She said « I'll go with you, but you know my time my ain't free »

But I liked her so much, I bought the company.

(chorus)

I liked her so much I bought the company

I would have taken her home and loved her for eternity

But I guess when you go down that road, once you're walking those streets

You can't turn round too easily

But I liked her so much, I bought the company

Now her goodbye kiss is still warm on my lips But that's nothin' that you couldn’t condone

I need some green, gotta’ find a bank machine So I can pay my taxi home

The streetlights are fading, we'd talked until dawn, She sure knew I wasn't any regular john,

Finally interrupted by her ringtone, Someone was calling on her cellphone

She said « I'll go with you. » And that was the end for me.

But I liked her so much, and she'd kept me company.

Story

Lyrics

Ain’t Much Meat on the Hook Ain’t much meat on the hook No there ain’t much meat on the hook

You did what you could to make it look good But there ain’t much meat on the hook

Well, it's down to the fishin’ hole with my friend Hugo To catch a denizen of the deep

We like ‘em fightin’ but today they ain’t bitin’ Figurin’ they must be asleep

Is it our casting that’s off or Are they sizin’ up what we have to offer

Observin’ with a critical eye

There ain’t much meat on the hook No there ain’t much meat on the hook

The grasshopper’s nice, the worm’s all right But it doesn’t rate a second look

There ain’t much meat on the hook Just didn’t have what it took

You did what you could, to make it look good But there ain’t much meat on the hook

Well, Skinny Little Annie with the cute little fanny, Won’t stop givin’ me the eye

But if I ever weaken my future will be bleak and you can Kill me cause I’d much rather die

From her good side her qualities are many But when she turns around she doesn’t have any

Visible to the critical eye

There ain’t much meat on the hook No there ain’t much meat on the hook

She looks like she must’ve been goalie for the dart team Doesn’t rate a second look

There ain’t much meat on the hook Just didn’t have what it took

She did what she could, to make it look good But there ain’t much meat on the hook

Now what can go wrong when you’re writin’ a song As catchy as this one here?

I’ll be submittin’ this tune in a contest soon Can I share my one big fear?

It’s if Paula Abdul or a similar tasteless fool

Listens with a critical ear [and says]

Ain’t much meat on the hook No there ain’t much meat on the hook

The title’s fine but it’s the only good line and you don’t rate a second look

There ain’t much meat on the hook Didn’t have what it took

You did what you could, to make it sound good

But there ain’t much meat on there ain’t much meat on there ain’t much meat on the hook

Something seems missin’ Ain’t worth a second listen

(The idea’s there but the bones are bare)

There ain’t much meat on the hook.
